Can Car Dealer Void Your New Car Warranty if you install aftermarket parts like remote starts , wheels, etc ? by the 2008 Top 50 Mobile Electronics Retailer Expert ENORMIS of Erie, Pa

Posted by admin

Understanding your car warranty
US Code - Title 15, Chapter 50, Sections 2301-2312

Legally, a vehicle manufacturer cannot void the warranty on a vehicle due to an aftermarket part unless they can prove that the aftermarket part caused or contributed to the failure in the vehicle (per the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act(15 U.S.C. 2302(C)

Service advisors that tell customers their warranty is automatically Voided if they add wheels, remote starts, fog lights, etc are IN VIOLATION of Federal LAW.

For best results, consider working with customer service-oriented dealerships with a proven history of working with customers. If your vehicle manufacturer fails to honor emission/warranty claims, contact EPA at (202) 260-2080 or www.epa.gov. If federal warranty protection is denied, contact the FTC at (202) 326-3128 or www.ftc.gov

Your Rights to Personalize Your Vehicle
ARTICLE ONE: You have the Right to buy high-quality, reliable aftermarket performance and specialty parts, accessories and styling options.
ARTICLE TWO: You have the Right to use high-quality aftermarket parts and know that your new car warranty claims will be honored. In fact, your vehicle dealer may not reject a warranty claim simply because an aftermarket product is present. A warranty denial under such circumstances may be proper only if an aftermarket part caused the failure being claimed.
ARTICLE THREE: You have the Right to install and use emissions-legal aftermarket performance parts without incurring hassles and onerous procedures during state vehicle emissions inspections.
ARTICLE FOUR: You have the Right to actively oppose any proposed (or existing) laws or regulations that will reduce your freedom to use aftermarket automotive parts and service or will curtail your ability to take part in the automotive hobbies of your choice.
ARTICLE FIVE: You have the Right to patronize independent retail stores and shops for vehicle parts and service. The U.S. aftermarket offers the world’s finest selection of performance and specialty parts, accessories and styling options. These aftermarket products satisfy the most discriminating customers seeking personalized vehicles for today’s lifestyle.

Can a new car dealership service an old, out of warranty vehicle?

Posted by admin

For example, can a new car Volvo dealership fix my old Volvo 850’s power steering pump? Paying them of course since it would be way out of warranty.

Of course they can, and they would love to get the work. You will find that the dealer’s service department is usually the most expensive choice. A good independent private shop can most likely do the repair as well for less money.

What is a good auto warranty company for a used vehicle?

Posted by admin

I have a used vehicle and I am looking for a auto warranty to cover my vehicle for a reasonable price…a reputable company!

Thanks!

HappilyAware, I've always purchased an auto warranty for every vehicle I've owned in the last 7 years. In the beginning I used to get them from the dealer, but I've found it's less expensive to get them from a auto warranty company. http://www.simpleautoquotes.com/Auto-Warranty.html They offer free quotes, so it can't hurt to see how much one would cost for your vehicle.

Will my extended warranty cover for this on my 06 vehicle?

Posted by admin

I now have extended warranty on my vehicle. Some of the stereo buttons don’t light up for some reason. It seems as if its a bulb or something that went out in a certain area because everthing else on the stereo lights up. Before this I also had the same problem. I was able to get it fixed because I was under manufacture warranty. They ordered a new deck for me and it worked. Now its happened again and it just so happens that its the same buttons that the lights go out. What can I do about this situation?

warranty should cover that…BUT make sure you ask first…

will taking the extended warranty off the vehicle lower the loan payments?

Posted by admin

we have a 2007 vehicle with a manufactures warranty on it still. we also purchased an extended warranty. Is it possible to cancel that warranty and if it is, will that lower my monthly loan payment or do we get a refund?

what will happen is you would get a refund pro-rated from when you got the vehicle to how much warranty is left. What will happen how ever is the money for the warranty will be taken off the cash principle for the loan, so in essence you would have a shorter time to pay off the car.

it doesn’t lower the payment but gives you a smaller total loan.

I hope this helps
